I feel like life here with the shop has been business, business, and more business… so let me take a moment to tell you about this finished Marsh Tee I am wearing today 🙂
This little fun tee was knit up in some Berroco Modern Cotton DK, in the Narragansett colorway. 2 skeins was all I needed to make the 42″ bust size (though, now that I say that I feel like I might have cast on the size below out of fear that it would be too big and baggy?) Anyway. The front was a really quick knit. Seriously. Knit in plain stockinette, no waist or arm shaping. Just rows of mindless knitting until you get to the v-neck split. The way the decreases are done makes for a really nice edging to the neckline that I just love.
The back was more tricky, as it is with just about any lace knitting pattern. At one point I was halfway through the chart, started counting my stitches on the one side of the pattern and realized I was, somehow, off by 2. Tried to read my knitting to see where the issue happened and I even went as far as un-knitting a few rows to find it. No such luck, though, and the whole back was ripped out and re-knit. I probably would have had this done weeks ago if it weren’t for that, honestly.
But here the tee is in all its beautiful glory!
If I knit it again (and I just might, because it really is a lovely top to wear for summer), I would lengthen the top a bit – probably by another 2 inches of stockinette. I can’t wear it with jeans without it showing my pasty white mom belly if I lift my arms up, which is just a no-go for me. I’d also probably do a ribbed edge, or maybe garter ridges, because I don’t love the way the rolled stockinette looks. It just feels… unfinished, to me anyway.
The Marsh tee is a free pattern through Berroco (go grab it, here!) and the Modern Cotton DK is a lovely blend of cotton and rayon and perfect for summer! This tee will definitely get a lot of wear in my wardrobe this year, I already know that! Want to make your own?
