After much consideration and hours upon hours of discussion with my family, I have decided that Stitch & Skein will be closing its brick-and-mortar doors in May 2025.
Stitch & Skein will be going on a brief hiatus and will be returning with a new online face as well as virtual and local opportunities to gather our stitching family together. I am hoping to be able to present regular meetings for our weekly stitching sessions in a variety of venues as well as organize knit-a-longs and lessons, and maybe some new designs of my own as I focus more on putting my knitting knowledge to work with some pattern designing.
I want to thank each and every one of my customers for your support since opening. I had the dream, but you all made it the community it is today. I’m forever grateful that I could be your fiber arts home here in Marion, but – more importantly – that many of you have become dear friends. I have loved helping you with your projects, and watching you all grow your skills in your craft, and am thankful to have been a part of your maker journey.
We’re not doing a big blowout sale just yet, but we’ll begin discounting things more and more as we wind down. We hope you’ll use up your remaining gift cards as soon as possible. All sales are final as of March 20th, 2025.
The current time frame is as-follows:
The shop will be closed on Sunday, April 20th for Easter.
Beginning that week, the brick and mortar retail store will only be open Thursdays 10-4, Friday 11-7, and Saturday 10-4. Sunday open stitch sessions will discontinue, but Friday’s open stitch will still be held thru closing period.
Website (online) yarn sales will be temporarily discontinued during this time to avoid any mix-ups with inventory matching in-store.
April 24th-26th
- Sales this week will run at 30% off all yarn, needles, and notions (excludes consignment items)
- Open stitch will be held from 5-7pm on Friday night
May 1st-3rd
- Sales this week will run at 40% off all yarn, needles, and notions(excludes consignment items)
- Open stitch will be held from 5-7pm on Friday night
May 8th-10th
- Sales this week will run at 50% off all yarn, needles, and notions(excludes consignment items)
- This will be the last weekend to use your gift cards
- Gift cards are able to be used on Berroco drop-ship orders, so if there is nothing in-store you want to buy at this point in our closing you’ll still have plenty of yarn options available thru this method.
- Join me for a final open stitch in-store from 5-7 on Friday night where there will definitely be snacks (and probably booze and some tears).
May 11th and onward:
- The brick and mortar store will be officially closed, and we’ll begin the process of cleaning out shelving, boxing up whatever yarn is left, etc. If you are interested in any of our slatwall displays or shelving, please let me know!
- Open stitch sessions will resume at a currently TBD date/time once I have finalized arrangements with a few locations I have in mind.
