If I’m being perfectly honest, I had all these intentions that I might actually finish this Throwback sweater before the new year even began and start off my 2020 knitting goals already ahead of schedule. I took a personal day from work today, thinking that a long weekend off would be prime knitting time. Instead, I ended up with a whopper of a migraine that had me out for all of Friday evening and most of Saturday. Cabin fever hit Sunday, with the rest of my family tired of being home and cooped up all week, and we ventured out to Costco and, in general, just kill time and do something other than hang out at the house.
And if I’m also being perfectly honest, the warmer weather we had been graced with had me less in the mood for warm wool and more in the mood for pretty much anything else. So there was some reading done, and some laundry (yes, laundry over knitting – what has my world come to?!), and some finishing off of holiday desserts.
But, today… Today I’ve gone all-in on finishing off this sweater. I’ve taken short breaks to take my car to get serviced and to get lunch, but other than that I’ve whiled away my day in my craft room working on class planning while I knit stitches on the first sleeve on this sweater. The cold, rainy, grey weather just insists on it. And who am I to ignore the pull of a hot cup of tea and the familiar feel of wool in my hands?
And if the brief period of time I spent putting gas in my car is any indication… it is officially time to pull out all the warm handknits for layering up anytime I step outside. And knit a new pair of warm woollen mittens.
