Well, the weather has absolutely turned. I don’t remember noticing the days growing shorter as a child, but I certainly do now as an adult. And now it’s cold and gray and dark more than it is light. At least we’re in this lovely little lull where we get to witness some gorgeous sunrises and sunsets, though, and the earlier sunsets have meant getting some lovely campfire time in the back yard without having to stay up obnoxiously late. And the leaves are all turning, which made for an excellent little scavenger hunt on a walk one evening after school to find the perfect gradient of shades and sizes of leaves. Which, of course, I then had to pair up with the in-progress Gramps cardigan I’m making for the 6-year-old.
We took advantage of the lovely weather last weekend to head to Highbanks Metro Park for a little time in nature, which proved to be much needed for my nature-loving soul. I will be the first to confess that I am not religious at all, but there’s just something about being out in the woods that speaks to me so deeply on a near-religious level. It doesn’t matter what time of year it is – even in the dead of winter it’s all just so peaceful and lovely and calming. And, because I’m somewhat of a child at heart still, I couldn’t help but to snatch up some cute little pin oak acorns to take home and scatter around the dining room table candles for fall decor.
On the knitting front, we’re back to doing blanket classes this fall! If you’ve never made one and would like to, check out Canvas Creations For You, where I am currently teaching these blankets. I just taught at a private party last night, too! So if a group class in the studio isn’t your thing, contact me and we can arrange for a private group session with you and your friends!
Happy autumn, friends. Stay warm and cozy!
