BFL & Leicester Longwool Spinning Wool

Bluefaced Leicester and Leicester Longwool fibers are such a treat to work with, but this particular fiber adds another layer of amazing: the sheep this fiber came from is locally raised right here in Marion, Ohio! These sheep produce gorgeous fiber that feels softer than any commercially produced BFL I’ve ever used!

BFL fiber is well known and loved for its finished yarns, but the lesser-known Leicester Longwool is also an amazing fiber! Registered on the list of heritage breed conservancy fibers with the Livestock Conservancy, which aims to help preserve the biodiversity of livestock breeds, Leicester Longwool is included on the Shave ’em to Save ’em campaign.  You can read more about this fiber here on the Livestock Conservancy’s website!
